I've started a Precept Bible Study on the book of John and began by reading John's purpose for writing the book, found in chapter 20, verses 30 and 31:
Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.
The next part of the study so far for me has been to find instances of the words "sign", "believe", and "life" since those are key words in John's purpose for writing. It has been really neat to read John with that purpose in mind.
If you haven't read the book of John or it has been a long time, I highly recommend reading it, especially watching for those words and how they relate to the telling of John's gospel. My prayer is that you would know Jesus and believe in Him and have life in His name.
